About The Movie
The 1978 NBC miniseries Holocaust was a landmark event in the 1977-78 network television season, a multi-part teleplay that renewed the public´s interest in the relatively new concept the miniseries, coming shortly after the blockbuster success of Roots. One of the year´s top-rated programs, it won a total of eight Emmy awards, including Best Limited Series. Directed by Marvin J. Chomsky and written by Gerald Green -- both of whom were among the Emmy winners -- Holocaust assembled an impressive cast to tell the story of two very different German families during the 12 years of Hitler´s Third Reich.

The enormous cast includes Meryl Streep, James Woods, Michael Moriarty, Ian Holm, Tovah Feldshuh, Rosemary Harris, Fritz Weaver, Sam Wanamaker, Nigel Hawthorne, Robert Stephens, George Rose, Joseph Bottoms, Blanche Baker and David Warner. Streep, Moriarty and Baker won Emmys for their performances, while Weaver, Harris, Feldshuh, Wanamaker and Warner were nominated. Harris and Moriarty also won Golden Globes for their performances. Marvin J. Chomsky won the Directors Guild of America for his direction.
