In 1934, Rex Stout created Nero Wolfe, one the memorable and most popular detectives of mystery fiction. By background a businessman, Rex Stout started publishing short stories in his twenties and published the first of his 46 Nero Wolfe books as he was nearing 50 years old.

Nero Wolfe, the 286 pound beer consuming marvel, who wears yellow silk pajamas, loves orchids and rarely leaves home has been a popular character for seventy years in Rex Stout’s books, films and recently a successful television series. His sidekick Archie Goodwin helps prod Wolfe into action.

In The Second Confession,a millionaire businessman hires Nero Wolfe to uncover the background of his daughter´s boyfriend but Wolfe isn´t sure he wants to be involved. Then a mob boss "counsels" him to drop the matter, machine-gun fire rips apart his orchid room, and the boyfriend turns up dead. Wolfe must solve the murder to prevent his own.
